Apple Under the Microscope

My recent AirPods Max video explored whether these premium headphones justify their hefty price tag in 2025.

The verdict? They're still delivering exceptional sound quality and integration with the Apple ecosystem, but the lack of updates since their initial release makes the premium pricing increasingly questionable.

You can check out the video here.

I've also been exploring the fascinating psychology behind Apple's pricing strategy on the latest episode of my For Perspective podcast. We dissect the "pricing ladder" Apple creates, strategically positioning products to guide consumers toward specific buying decisions.

If you've ever wondered why you ended up buying the middle-tier iPhone storage option, this episode explains the psychological nudges at play. It is coming next weekend, April 6!

What's Rotten in Cupertino?

Coming soon: A deep dive into some concerning trends at Apple. From increasingly aggressive marketing to quality control issues in recent software updates, I'm exploring whether the company is still prioritizing user experience or if shareholder demands are taking precedence. This candid analysis looks at the changes long-time Apple fans have been noticing.

Creator Heartbeat

Behind the Scenes

This week was a hustle! Between testing the AirPods Max in various environments for the review, researching Apple's history for an upcoming video, and organizing my thoughts on Apple's strategic direction, I've been deep in creator mode.

I am testing out a few “new” apps as well, new to me at least and some long time favorites like Todoist may be back in the picture soon.

The stock Apple Apps are pretty great, with plenty of power user features, but lately they just feel a little stale to use. I’m not really opening them up and feeling inspired to work inside of notes and reminders, so I have been searching for a replacement.

My biggest issue at the moment is my entire second brain is inside of Apple Notes and the Forever Notes framework is so good that when I try something else I just end up coming back to Apple Notes feeling defeated.

It would be great if Apple would do just a few minor updates to the Notes and Reminders apps to make them more user friendly for the power users as well as regular people. I’m sure the average person wouldn’t mind having to do less clicks to navigate around reminders and set due dates or the ability to have a table of contents style navigation panel within Apple Notes.

What I'm Watching

Stephen Robles makes amazing Apple content. His video recently about Reminders + Notes has sent me into a spiral.

He detailed a simple shortcut that uses the Bear notes URL callback system to automatically create a note and linked reminder in Apple Reminders. This adds an icon to the Reminder that you can click, which will then open the note.

I have been wanting to do this for awhile with Apple Notes, but unfortunatley Apple Notes shortcut support is not as full featured as Bear and the deeplink to the Apple Note is harder to get as well.

The Hulry on Threads suggested that you can select the note title and share that to reminders, which will do the same thing!

I came pretty close using my own shortcut and the ProNotes desktop add on for Apple Notes, but this copy/share solution works no matter what device you are on to create the linked note!

And my thread that has some good replies: Thread
