April’s App of the Month

You read something brilliant, but when you need it later, you can't remember where it was!

As an engineer and content creator, I've wasted HOURS searching through books, PDFs, newsletters, and browser tabs for information I knew I saved somewhere.

After trying dozens of apps and systems, I finally found one that works: Readwise Reader.

But here's the thing—its true power isn't in the features they advertise...

My new video breaks down exactly how I use it to build a personal knowledge database that gets more valuable every day.

Reader features a clean user interface, handles all kinds of information, including PDFs, websites, newsletters, even YouTube videos. It syncs with the Readwise service to keep your highlights in one place AND sync them to you second brain.

Wether you are an Apple Notes, Notion or Obsidian user, we can all agree that Readwise is great! None of us have to settle for forgetting or losing valuable pieces of information that we read. Readwise becomes a front end to your personal knowledge system.

I consistently reference articles and tweets for videos and writing. I also use Reader to help highlight critical pieces of information from long form YouTube podcasts, that would otherwise be lost. Check out the full video here.

New Episode of the For Perspective Podcast

This week I talk about the Apple Pricing ladder, pseudo productivity and some AI updates. The episode drops first thing Monday Morning, links to YouTube Spotify and Apple Podcasts are at the bottom of every newsletter.

Behind the Scenes

Every once in awhile I do this thing where videos start to pile up. So many in works that I can’t possibly keep track of them all. Right now is one of those times. I’ve been on a roll with writing and filming, but really slacking on the editing, B-Roll and packaging…you know the execution and follow through bit.

This is a good problem to have and I am thankful that I’ve been able to come up with a bunch of ideas that excite me, for the channel, the podcast and it makes writing the newsletter easy!

As always, thanks for everyone that is watching, engaging, liking and commenting! It really does mean a lot to me as I work to expand this business over the long term.

Colin and Samir interviewed Zuckerberg

Is Meta relevant in 2025? In the interview I learned a few things.

I had no idea monetization was a thing on Facebook. This is largely because of the Instagram/Threads CEO take on absolutely doing ANYTHING BUT paying creators. Rake in ad dollars from companies, pump the dream of being an Instagram influencer, except heaven forbid you support the people who are bringing eyeballs to the platform.

Zuck kind of complained about creators leaving Facebook or not having Facebook as thier “home”. I took a note in the car while listening to this and it said, “Can't complain about the creators not being on your platform when you have turned your back on the Creators

Facebook had the lead in social and blew it. In college Facebook was the place to be, we were connected with friends, we were poking each other, if your party didn’t have a Facebook event invite and any pictures it didn’t happen.

Then Facebook and everyone else slowly went algorithmic and took away the features that people loved most, the ability to connect and engage with and see the posts from people you decided to follow.

Colin and Samir basically say, we all know what a YouTube creator or tiktok video looks like and the platforms do a pretty god job of promoting the creators that are “model citizens” for everyone else to emulate, or at least provide examples of what is possible.

YouTube has also led the way on monetization and sharing the profits with creators. They make as much money as netflix AND still share that profit with the people who literally power the platform, the creators. You can check out their full episode on YouTube.
