Garmin’s best features, right on the Apple Watch, with just one app.

September’s App of the Month is Athlytic!

This Apple Watch companion app delivers all of the recovery data metrics you need to get the most out of your Apple Watch.

Recovery, sleep, battery, training load and more, I’ve been using this app for a few years now to get some of the best Garmin features directly on the Apple Watch.

Last year I tried out a Garmin side by side with the Apple WAtch Ultra 2 and I just couldn’t give up my Apple Watch at the end of the day.

I love the seamless ecosystem sync and Apple Health is my home base for health information. Its easy to download music directly to the watch, pair bluetooth headphones seamlessly and go for a run or bike ride without my phone.

HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate and temp taken while you sleep inform the recovery score and have even helped me to diagnose some health issues and get me to the right specialist for medical care.

Training load is extremely useful for measuring how hard you are pushing yourself in your training. Often I have pretty big peaks and valleys throughout the year and this feature is a reminder for me to take it slow and steady while building volume, weight, distance, whatever the goal.

One of my favorite charts in the app is called sleep debt, which averages the quality of your sleep over the past 14 days and basically tells you if you are sleeping too muhc or too little.

Athlytic also gives suggestions for when your target bed time and wake time should be given your input for how long you typically like to sleep. For me that target is 7.8 hours.

There are a whole host of other features in the app, to check out my full thoughts, you can watch the video on my YouTube channel here.

The App of the Month shorts are filmed, edited and scheduled, the newsletter will make it out just in time and I’m now behind on scheduling posts for Threads.

Trying to do everything, everywhere all at once is exhausting. Especially when you have endless ideas that you want to bring to life and a vision for how to grow and monetize your business.

I’ve been leaning into learning more about slow productivity, which may be the first book we read when I launch yet another thing to try to manage, with a quarterly book club where a small group reads 1-2 books per quarter, talks about them throughout the months and I can make a few videos about what we are all learning alongside one another.

If you are interested in this let me know, I’m still trying to work out logistics and planning, but it will likely be something like a free Discord or Patreon page that I can monitor and limit the amount of people who are able to join, to try to get engaged discussions and not just a giant server filled with people who don’t participate.

I listened to the Rich Roll podcast for the first time this week at the recommendation of cinestillsamurai

The guest was filmmaker Max Joseph.

One key takeaway is about finding your path.

“If you throw a lot against the wall, the thing that’ll come back to you is the thing that the world wants from you. And listening to that is really important. “
