App of the month - Apple Freeform

We are headed to the final week of August. This week I shared my favorite feature of Apple Freeform.

Scenes.

For an app that is all about creativity, its infinite canvas, it is missing a lot of basic organization features from other Apple Productivity apps.

Things like folders and tags.

Scenes lets you take a snapshot of the board and save that in a table of contents of sorts. This lets you jump around in complex boards.

Maybe you have a complex mind map and as you jump around and dig into ideas you’d like to save portions of them to make it easy to jump to that section from anywhere in the board.

This is what Scense lets you do. It is a must have for me, I can just create chaotically and organize my thoughts later, which is exactly what Freeform is good at.

Check out my short video on YouTube, Instagram or TikTok. Wherever you prefer, I am there!

Creator Heartbeat

This week I launched my first digital product!

I’ve packaged together thousands of hours of Apple Notes knowledge into a PDF guide.

I start at the beginning with the layout and features of the app before getting into power user features and finally some productivity systems you could consider and make your own.

This is The Essential Apple Notes Guide available now on Gumroad!

Content Radar

I listened to Dickie Bush, co-creator of the Ship 30 online writing course and Ali Abdaal this past week.

It had a lot of relevant advice for where I am in life, but also a lot of advice that completely misses the mark for people who are married, with kids, have a house, etc.

I felt like had I heard and followed this advice when I was 24 I’d be a millionaire by now, but as I sit here at 34, some of this is just hustle culture nonsense.

Maybe the most important takeaway from the episode was don’t quit your job too soon. Come up with a plan and don’t leave until your side hustle or business is hitting that monthly income goal sustainably.

I think this is good advice but you could also argue that the motivation of quitting and going all in is needed for some people. Again it all depends on your situation, personally and financially, as to how much risk you should take on if you are seriously considering something like this.
